It's a coach that doesn't really need much introduction in the diesel pusher world. If one exists, that is the Tiffin Allegro Bus. It's a long-standing name and also because it lives in an elite luxury niche where buyers are no longer just looking for a weekend RV. The Allegro Bus is a large, Class A, diesel motorhome, designed for people who desire residential comfort, long-distance road manners, a large tank and a coach that can deliver months of travel, not just a few easy nights at a campground. Not quite at the top of the Tiffin range but close enough that most will already think they are in flagship territory. It's about looking beyond the glitz and glamour. It is a large, weighty, and complex coach, so if you need what it has to offer, then it's only logical.

What the Allegro Bus Is Really For

The Allegro Bus isn't designed to be an easy first RV. It was designed for those who know and care about the importance of a diesel pusher. Its simplicity is easy to understand: enclose a giant residential-sized living quarters in a suitable rear engine diesel vehicle, and travel long distance without feeling exhausted. Tiffin has several floor plans for the Allegro Bus for 2026, such as the 36 AP, 40 IP, 45 BP, 45 OPP, and 45 BTP. The length of the motorhome can be as short as 38 feet 2 inches and as long as 45 feet, so even the shortest of the motorhome is huge. Long floor plans offer additional storage, extra living room or, in some cases, a bunk or bath arrangement that is better suited for families or friends. This is not a coach for the person that is trying to fit into a small campsite. It is for travellers that prefer space and comfort, and require a solid platform for serious road time.

Chassis, Engine, and Driving Feel

The PowerGlide XC raised rail rear engine diesel chassis is the backbone of the Allegro Bus. That's important because it is a significant component of what makes people love this coach. The Cummins L9 450 HP, 1,250 lb-ft of torque diesel engine is standard on the 2026 model lineup and coupled with the Allison 3000 MH 6-speed automatic transmission. For some of the larger models, there is an option of an even more serious Cummins X15 605 horsepower engine that produces 1,950 lb-ft of torque. You don't purchase this to have sports-car feel. You purchase it because a heavy coach requires confidence, torque, air suspension, braking strength and a comfortable ride. Another new feature in the 2026 model is the new Tiffin PowerDrive steering column system, which is designed to deliver better handling and ease of manoeuvre. Put simply, the Allegro Bus should be big, but not sloppy.

Weight, Towing, and Size

This thing cannot be avoided in size. The 36 AP and 40 IP have a GVWR of 42,000 pounds, while the 45-foot models are rated at 52,000 pounds. The shorter models come with a GCWR of 52,000 pounds while the larger ones are 67,000 pounds. Tiffin reports the following maximum trailer weights: 36 AP 10,000 lbs; 40 IP 10,000 lbs; 45 BP 20,000 lbs; 45 OPP 15,000 lbs; 45 BTP 15,000 lbs. The hitch rating for the shorter models is 10,000 pounds and 15,000 pounds for the larger. If you are towing a car, trailer or serious toys then this will come into play. Long, but not just long, the Allegro Bus is also wide, at 101 inches, and tall, at 13 feet 3 inches. The minimum height of the garage is indicated as 14 ft. Yes, it's comfortable. But you must think like a large coach owner, not a camper van owner.

Interior Space and Floor Plans

The space is the Allegro Bus's inside, and it's not just a space to be photographed, it's a space to live in. The 2026 sizes come in a range from approximately 365 square feet, slides open on the 36 AP, to approximately 440 square feet on the 45-foot models. The galley features a smart convection microwave with air fry, a double bowl sink, a tile backsplash, pantry lighting and a more homey layout than will be found in smaller motorhomes. Too much of this type of interior can seem like too much if traveling a couple of weekends each year. However, if you are travelling for months, these elements can begin to have an impact. The coach can feel like a more permanent space with good lighting, storage, counter space and a real laundry, instead of an arrangement from a storage unit.

Water, Tanks, and Long Stays

One of the heavyweight practical cases for the Allegro Bus is the tank numbers. There are 150 gallon fuel tanks, 100 gallons of fresh water, 100 gallons of grey water, and 55 gallons of black water in each 2026 floor plan. It's no small RV land. It implies that the coach is a place with extended durations and regular routines. The Allegro Bus provides much more freedom than smaller coaches, but you can still run out of water if you act like you're in a house. Aqua-Hot 450D handles heat and hot water. Usually six batteries of 6-volt flooded lead-acid are standard, while AGM and Lithium versions are also available. Solar is available as well, either three 200 W panels or six 200 W panels depending on configuration, with controllers included. It is not a small off-grid van. It is a large coach power system that provides residential comfort. It can be used for dry camping, but it's still a large machine that requires a lot of energy.

Storage and Basement Space

Basement storage is one of the main features of diesel pushers for longer trips, and that's what the Allegro Bus has in spades. Tiffin offers basement storage space ranging from 154 cubic feet on the 36 AP to 229 cubic feet on the 40 IP and 257 cubic feet on the 45-foot models. It's a lot of space for tools, hoses, outdoor furniture, extra parts, folding bikes, and travel gear. The raised rail chassis aids in creating pass-through storage and Tiffin also has powered storage compartment slide-out trays available. This is crucial, as a large coach needs to have a nice interior as well. It must also pack the unglamorous stuff that makes traveling happen. The Allegro Bus is better than smaller rigs in that it will allow you to bring real gear and not convert the living area into a storage closet.

Technology and Safety

The Allegro Bus is chock full of technology, but not all of it is entertainment. Tiffin also features a Valid LCD instrument cluster, 10-inch camera monitor, 10-inch touchscreen navigation and entertainment system, 7-inch passenger console monitor, JBL stereo, and wireless phone charging. Starlink has been included in the 2026 spec as standard, but with a subscription fee. The technology aspect here is comfort, safety and a very large coach made much more manageable.

What Could Be Better

There are several drawbacks to the Allegro Bus even though it might be affordable for some buyers. First, it is big. You can't camp anywhere, you can't fuel anywhere, and you can't feel fully relaxed on narrow roads when you're in a 38 to 45 foot diesel pusher. Second, it is complicated. Attention needs to be paid to hydronic heat, multiplex controls, air systems, slides, leveling, diesel emissions equipment, batteries, generator and luxury appliances. Thirdly, it is not a simple experience of ownership. With a larger motorhome, tires, service, insurance, storage, and repairs are all more important to consider than they are with a smaller motorhome. The Allegro Bus comes with a promise that it will be a reward to those that use it enough to warrant the cost and maintenance. This coach may be more of a burden than a dream if you only make a couple short trips.

Who Should Purchase the Allegro Bus?

The Tiffin Allegro Bus is ideal for those who plan to travel frequently and spend extended periods of time in the vehicle, and expect to travel with the same comfort as the comfort of their own home. It's best for full-time residents, seasonals, retired couples, remote workers and families considering the bunk or two-bath options. It is also well suited for those looking for factory support, an established owner community and a long established diesel pusher name. Not necessarily the best option for simple camping, low maintenance, or easy access to every small campsite. Allegro Bus is a coach for serious business. It lives up to its reputation if you're looking for something luxurious with a sense of stability when you're on the road, comfortable to ride in and ready for long trips. This is definitely the wrong lane if you're looking for simple and cheap.
